Pre-match press conference with Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner and defender Chris Richards ahead of Shelbourne v Crystal Palace in the UEFA Conference League at Tallaght Stadium in Dublin.

Glasner confirms Daniel Muñoz will undergo knee surgery and is expected to be out for four to six weeks, with Jean-Philippe Mateta also left at home to rest a minor knee issue. Jaydee Canvot is ill, while Ismaïla Sarr remains sidelined as he recovers before linking up with Senegal for the Africa Cup of Nations, meaning Palace have travelled with 15 senior players plus academy trio Joél Drakes-Thomas, Kaden Rodney and Benji Casey.

He discusses finding creative solutions at right wing back, praising Nathaniel Clyne and name checking Borna Sosa and Justin Devenny as options, and explains why the congested run of 10 games before 10 January makes qualification for the knockout stage the main target. Glasner analyses Shelbourne’s compact 3 5 2 shape, low possession and aggressive second balls, warning it will be hard to find gaps against a team that defends the box with eight or nine players.

Richards talks about contract discussions, wanting Palace’s ambition and values to align with his own, and calls this probably the biggest year of his career and life with club and country.
