TRIP REPORT | Last Flight with Alitalia! | Alitalia E190 | Madrid to Rome Fiumicino

Alitalia Trip Report flying from Madrid to Rome Fiumicino onboard one of the Alitalia Embraer E190 on a lovely early-summer morning.

The last Alitalia Trip Report of the channel. Sadly and, till some point, quite unbelievable, but that's the truth. Alitalia has ceased all operations on the 14th of October 2021 and will be "replaced" by the new airline ITA. When I booked this flight I could not imagine that it would be the last one. Really sad.

However, I can't say that this could not be the expected outcome of Alitalia's last years' performance: hundreds of millions in debts, being rescued by the Italian government several times and declared bankrupted more than once. Every time it was rescued lots of promises of change appeared... but the reality is that the airline continued exactly the same way as before.

Talking about today's flight, it was a very nice flight from Madrid to Rome Fiumicino. A flight done just before all the travel restrictions would be lifted in all Europe, so we could "enjoy" for the last time an airport with not a lot of passengers. We had some very nice views of the Madrid area, some glimpses of Barcelona between the clouds and some amazing views of Sardinia. The approach over Civitavecchia with lots of cruises next to the port was really beautiful. All in all, I think it will be a nice last Trip Report for this historical airline. Farewell, Alitalia!
