Autologous stem cell transplant, also known as autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT), is a treatment for multiple myeloma where your own stem cells are collected, stored, and then infused back into your body after high-dose chemotherapy. This process aims to restore bone marrow function after the chemotherapy has destroyed the myeloma cells and some healthy cells as well.
ASCT is used to achieve a deeper and longer remission in multiple myeloma.
