Ok, I forgot to turn on the Nuisance Multiplier window until halfway through the match, but here is how Pair Chains in Pair Puyo work.
Your first instinct while playing Pair Puyo would be to take turns spamming 1 chains, but that's counterproductive. For each distinct chain that a teammate sets off, your team's nuisance multiplier actually DECREASES.
Spamming 1 Chains to keep the chain going is pointless. Unless you plan on stalling for 20 minutes, it won't help you survive, and it won't make you do more damage. Just wait to let the chain resolve and make another one.
