Over 600 people have signed up to speak to the City of Vancouver's proposed 2026 budget — a budget of high intrigue given Mayor Ken Sim's promise to freeze property taxes. COPE Coun. Sean Orr says the overwhelming thing he's heard from residents is a lack of transparency over the proposed budget. Independent Coun. Rebecca Bligh, formerly of Sim's ABC caucus, said there are deep concerns over cuts that will be made as a result of the budget. But ABC Coun. Mike Klassen says people are pleased that the council is focusing on affordability.
