Intro to Theatron in English

Introduction to Theatron a YouTube channel about theater and history.

The word "theatre" comes from the word "theatron", which in ancient Greek means "a place to see." And here in ancient Greece, we will begin our journey. The first nine episodes, cover topics from the cult of Dionysus, to the structure of a Greek tragedy.

The aim of "Theatron" is to take a journey through the history of acting from its beginnings to the present day.

But "Theatron" is not only about theatre, it is also about history and culture. As an actor for historical figures, it is important to be able to put oneself in the respective time where the play is set and in the author's era. Therefore, "Theatron" offers a summary of the history and culture of the regions and eras in which the respective plays are set.

The whole thing is topped off with summaries of the authors' biographies and a selection of their plays.
