Kedging was a technique used in moving a vessel before steam or other non-oar/wind power was developed. It involves carrying the anchor of the vessel forward using a launch, and then retrieving the anchor which pulls the vessel forward toward the anchor...and then repeating. Arduous is the word that comes to mind. In this video, I caught a stranded mariner, using this old technique...Did he think it up himself??
