London has two new free-viewing platforms: Horizon 22 and The Lookout.
Horizon 22 is located on level 58 of 22 Bishopsgate — the second tallest building in the UK after The Shard. It is not only London's highest free viewing platform but also the highest one in Europe.
It offers 300-degree views of London from 254 metres up, showcasing its most iconic landmarks.
This scenic viewpoint opened its doors on 27 September and features high-speed lifts, a main viewing gallery with an 8.7m high ceiling with triple-glazed windows, a pop-up kiosk and excellent customer service.
I’ve been to Horizon 22 three times so far and I have no doubts that it will become one of the most popular attractions in London.
It’s open 7 days a week from 10 o’clock. If you try to book a ticket on its website, you will not find tickets for the next 60 days or so. But some of the tickets are put aside for walk-ins and you can just show up and scan the code. It’s subject to availability though.
The Lookout sits on the 50th floor of a newly completed building on 8 Bishopsgate and provides striking views across mainly south and west of London.
I visited The Lookout during the sunset and I loved it.
This viewing gallery that opened at the end of August is much smaller, and the ceiling is much lower than the Horizon 22 gallery, which makes Lookout very cosy. It’s like a private viewing platform.
To visit the Lookout, you must book your ticket in advance, which is released weekly on Mondays.
