While exploring British Columbia by boat, we stumbled onto something we couldn’t ignore.
While anchored in Bedwell Harbour on Pender Island, we took our aluminum dinghy, Punga, to shore after a visit to the local pub—but what we discovered on the way back stopped us cold. Two sailboats, beached and abandoned, lay on their sides in the sand.
Were they someone’s dream gone wrong?
A home left behind?
Could they even be salvaged?
In this episode, we head ashore to investigate, trying to piece together what happened and how long they’ve been there. Along the way, we ask the same questions many boaters do—who’s responsible for removing derelict boats?
And how do boats like this end up forgotten?
Join us as we explore this strange coastal scene and share our thoughts on derelict boats, community responsibility, and what it means to live along the shoreline. If you're passionate about remote exploration, life aboard, and stories that make you think, this one’s for you.
