Russia - Voucher Programme Extended

(30 Jun 1994) The Russian Federal privatization voucher programme, originally set
to expire on Thursday (30/6), has been extended for a month as
thousands of people across Russia flocked to banks and investment
firms to trade their vouchers in time for the original deadline.
The vouchers allow Russians to buy shares in newly-privatized
formerly state-owned companies. Although the programme has been
extended within the Moscow city limits until the 1st of January,
1995, many Muscovites are joining the throngs to invest their
shares of the federally-provided vouchers.
