On December 12, 1944 the RAF sent 140 Lancaster bombers and 90 escort Mustangs on a daylight mission to Witten, Germany to attack a steel works plant. The bombers were attacked by 20 Me-109 fighters. The fighters shot down 8 bombers. The fighter group commander was shot down 3 weeks later and was interrogated by USAAF and RAF personnel. He discusses the battle narration and provides opinion on the Lancaster and it’s .303 caliber machine gun armaments.
