Today on this 2014 Ford F150 SuperCrew Cab, we're going to show you part number C31068. This is Curt front-mount 2" receiver hitch. This is what the hitch looks like when it's installed the truck. As you can see, this is our 2" receiver right here, which has a nice collar around the front of it, and it uses a 5/8" hitch pin right here. The distance from the hitch pin hole in the center to the outside edge of the license plate here is going to be about 8-1/2". Our measurement from the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is about 11-3/4". This will vary with our 2-wheel drive like we have here or a 4-wheel driver where the chances are it will sit a little bit higher, plus tire sizes will throw it off as well.

Whatever accessories you put in, like a winch mount or something like that, you want to take that into consideration. When it's installed on the truck, half of the hitch is covered by the bumper cover at the bottom. You'll see the lower 2nd half of the hitch, which goes to a square tube. This hitch is rated for 5000 pounds gross trailer weight and 500 pounds tongue weight. If you're using that to maneuver a trailer around, that's your limitations. When you have a winch on the truck and you're using it, it has a 9000 pound max straight line pull. Now, we'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed.

We need to go ahead and remove this air dam right here. There's 2 bolts that install here and here. We'll use a 14mm socket to remove them and a long extension. Next, we need to go ahead and trim out the bottom of the fascia here. We'll go ahead and find the center rib and mark the center.

Then, we need to mark out 3-1/2" and go up about 1". I think it might be just as easy to just go along this bottom edge right here. To make our cut, we're simply going to use some tin snips first. Across the top, we'll use a sharp blade to score across, and then, we should be able to break it loose. We'll find a little bit will cut with a knife.

Clean up our edges if we need to, and we can move on. Let's go ahead and put our hardware into place. This little shroud right here, we can pop up and out of the way for now. Make sure to pull it back down when we're done after the hitch is installed. Next, we have this hardware we need to install on the truck. We have our long bolt with this block and 2 spacer. This will go through the frame and through the hitch. This is our passenger side. We'll do the same thing on the driver side. We need to take these flat washers, and we need to attach the washers on the frame of our vehicle. I'm just going to use some good ole' packing tape for it, but you can probably do the same thing with some electrical tape as well. You definitely want to make sure the frame is clean so the tape will stick. At this point, we can get an extra set of hands, and we'll go ahead and put the hitch up and run the bolts through. There will be a bracket that our hitch will fit around. We also need to work it up above the bumper cover as well. Make sure your bolt and spacer is pushed all the way the frame to the outside, and we'll install a flange nut. Now, we need to install our hardware to this point right here on our hitch. We need to install this bolt. To help us do that, we're going to use this bolt leader that comes with the kit. We're going to run it through the hole and out the access hole, which is a large oval on the inside edge of the frame. The square part on the bolt here will actually fit into the square part of the hole in the frame. There is no block that goes inside. Put it in head first and pull it out. Then, we'll install the matching flange nut. That was a our passenger side. We'll do this again on the driver side. You may want to make some last minute adjustments to make sure the hitch is sitting even on the frame. Once you're satisfied with it, then you can go ahead and tighten it down. Then, we'll torque the bolts down as specified in the instructions. Let's go ahead and take this shroud and pull it back down into place, and we'll be finished with the install.
