How to Build a Balsa RC Plane Off Plans: No. 1 Intro The Aeromite RC Plane

Hello and welcome to my build series on how to build a balsa wood radio control (RC) plane off plans, meaning I will be using the plans to cut and shape all of the parts. I am building the Aeromite RC plane, which is an all balsa and other wood construction, 36 inch wingspan, four channel, rc plane that will be powered by an OS Engines 15 LA glow engine. I will cut all the templates for the various parts, such as the wing ribs, fuselage formers and bulkheads, and other components straight from the plans to build the plane. I will also try to use mostly small hand tools, such as hobby knives, small saws, razor planes, sand paper, and other small tools to cut and shape all of the wood parts. For glues I will be using mostly CA glues, epoxy, and wood glue. I will show step by step how to build an rc plane from plans, from obtaining a plan, through all construction steps, engine and electronics setup, finally the maiden flight! For power, I will be using an O.S. 15LA Glow Engine.

In this introduction to the series, I will discuss the plane and how I got the plan. I downloaded the plane off the internet. As I state in the video, when downloading files off the internet proceed with caution and use at your own risk anything you download from the internet. We all know the drill, but make sure to take the precautions needed to protect yourself when downloading files and using the internet.

I have been building, flying, crashing, modifying, and repairing radio control planes (RC Planes) for many years and enjoy sharing what I do with the radio control plane community, so I started RC Plane Tech channel for fun. I am not an expert, there are many different techniques when building radio control planes. A good way to learn about flying and building rc planes is to see what others are doing, that's what I do and that's why I like to share what I do.
