Since its hotly anticipated release in late 2021, the new 300 Series has done nothing to undermine the Toyota LandCruiser’s reputation as the best full-size off-road SUV available today.

In fact the new Toyota LandCruiser came out on top against the Nissan Patrol in both on-road and off-road comparison tests earlier this year.

But now it’s time for the LC300 to face a new challenger in the fifth-generation 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L seven-seater, which is actually a fair bit longer in both wheelbase and, in Sahara guise as tested here, overall length – and brings a host of technology and luxury in its bid to rule the large go-anywhere SUV roost.
