The Nocte community in the Itanagar Capital Region celebrated the Chalo Loku, the tribe’s traditional harvest festival, on Tuesday with a series of cultural performances and traditional rituals.
The programme included the Chaamkat ritual and the Rangsoam See presented by Pupuha Sumyan, along with cultural presentations by Nocte Women Itanagar, students of RGU and DBC TCNL, a Borduria folk troupe, and Wancho women from Chimpu.
During the event, the Chalo Loku annual calendar was unveiled by Chief Guest Bamang Tago, Secretary General of the Arunachal Olympic Association, in the presence of community representatives and invited guests.
Speaking to the media, Tago urged the Nocte community to preserve, protect and promote their age-old cultural traditions, and made a special appeal to the youth to remain connected to their indigenous heritage.
Utham Bori, General Secretary of the Itanagar Bar Association, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour.
