For corrected info on the versions of White Clover see below.
Final Update!!!! I promise!!!!! Warren Eisenstein has weighed in on this mysterious song file and shed light on who is who and If you can't believe the man who wrote the song then who can you believe?

Warren Eisenstein wrote the song and plays Guitar (not Rich Williams). Steve Walsh did all of the vocals except for the eerie scream which was supplied by none other than Dave Hope. That's right he is playing bass.

Walsh is playing one of the Hammond B-3s(that's right, there were 2 in the song which is commented on below) and the other was played by Jeff Glixman.Last but never the least Phil Ehart is playing the drums.

Since there are very few pictures of the band White Clover in the early days I've used the oldest pictures that I have of the guys who were in that band. The song is reminiscent of early Deep Purple and at the 4:00 mark sounds like The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown!

There were 4 different versions of White Clover and I know very little about the first two. I am ready to learn new information about these early years as I know many of you are. This may be a good opportunity to do just that. I hope so!

My information states that the original White Clover was formed in 1968 and later joined up with Livgren's Saratoga in 1970 to form Kansas I. The only members I can say for sure from the first WC are Ehart, Hope and Williams. Evidently there were 3 versions of this first group.

The story of the 2nd version comes straight from one of the participants Warren Eisenstein. Jeff Glixman was playing organ and singing in New York, when he found Warren Eisenstein playing in a 3 pc. group. He liked his playing and wanted to form a band.Warren couldn't join up with Jeff until his present band split up a few months later. When Warren contacted Jeff ,Glixman went back to Topeka and brought Phil Ehart and Dave Hope with him to New York to jam and see if there was a musical connection. It worked so Eisenstein left New York (and a scholarship) to go back to the midwest with these guys. They called the band White Clover. They immediately were booked to long stints in New Orleans as well as gigs in western Kansas and Colorado. Many months into this gigging they were playing a club in Hays called Diamond Jim's where they hooked up with this bruised and battered guy in a body cast who asked Glixman if he could play his B3 on the break. Jeff said "sure". That guy, who had just had a really bad motorcycle accident but could still use his hands proceeded to blow them away, was Steve Walsh! He was the last member to join White Clover. The group obviously became very keyboard based and the Kansas orchestrated sound started to gel. That was when Warren Eisenstein and Jeff Glixman left to form "Cocky Fox" a more guitar based band. Cocky Fox went on to record "Unsung Kansas Boy" (with flip side "And When") which got significant regional airplay.

The remaining members of White Clover eventually added Robby Steinhardt and Kerry Livgren and the Kansas we all are familiar with was finally born. There are differing stories and timelines but I have to go with the story of an actual member over 2nd hand info.

As I said I look forward to learning anything new about this time period so let the comments fly!

Steve Walsh - Vocals, Hammond Organ
Warren Eisenstein - Guitar
Phil Ehart - Drums
Dave Hope - Bass
Jeff Glixman - Hammond Organ
