English translation included. Subtitles for Tamil films are usually much worse than even those for Hindi films. Because of that I haven't worked on many as I can't create the subs. But with Anu we have a truly professional-quality subtitler which makes the film a joy to watch and the translations a joy to read. Don't let not understanding the language deter you from watching the film. With Vijayanthimala in her prime and ably assisted by Gemini Ganesan and Anjali Devi, together with some truly enjoyable dances this is a very worthwhile way to pass three hours.

Told through the story of two friends, Rani and Kanmani, played by Vyjayanthimala and Anjali Devi, Penn talks about the evils of casteism and the societal discrimination towards those who transgress its strict boundaries.

My words:
Indian film copyright (including video, dialog, music, lyrics, songs) lasts for sixty years and any film and its songs released more than sixty years ago is in the public domain. No extensions, no renewals, no exceptions. This film is no longer protected by copyright.
