Tjupi Band From Papunya, singing in Luritja & English

The original dessert reggae band, Tjupi Band (Honey Ant) has created a sound that reverberates through bands in Central Australia. Founded by Warumpi Band’s Sammy Butcher in 2000, including sons Jason and Jeremiah, the band sings mainly in the Luritja language and some English. Their lyrics share messages about Country, culture and the challenges that affect communities. The current line-up includes second-generation songwriter Sammy Pearce and his dad Leslie, and songwriters Dwayne Abbot and Jordan Eggley. They have played the region’s biggest events including Desert Harmony, Garma Festival and Bush Bands Bash.
