A Sea Fox Celebration: The Inaugural Boat Owners Rendezvous
Wathumba Creek on K’gari – Fraser Island became the destination for Sea Fox Boat Owners as they gathered for the first-ever Sea Fox Boat Owners Rendezvous. With 48 attendees and an impressive fleet of 12 Sea Fox boats, ranging from 22’dual console to the flagship 36’Sea Fox Commander the event was a testament to the passion and camaraderie within the Sea Fox Boat community.
The excitement kicked off early on day one, with participants meeting at Urangan boat ramp at 5 AM. As the sun began to rise, the air was filled with the smell of coffee and sizzling bacon & egg rolls served to all guest while launching their Foxes. The hosts from Sea Fox Boats Australia and JSW Powersports—William Ramsay, Jeff McNiven, Lina Heldon, and Frank Waite—welcomed all the attendees, presenting them with an exclusive Rendezvous bag that included a stylish sky blue Sea Fox fishing shirt, hats, coolers and Club Marine goodies.
After social introductions and an informative briefing the fleet set off across the Great Sandy Strait to the picturesque Wathumba Creek campsite on the western side of the island. The day was dedicated to fishing along the island, and the stunning backdrop of crystal blue waters and untouched nature made for an unforgettable experience. As the sun began to dip, the group reconvened on the beach for sunset drinks, sharing stories and laughter against the idyllic setting.
Day two began with an early morning expedition to Rooney Point for a spectacular Sea Fox formation shot captured by drones. The stunning aerial views of K'gari provided the perfect backdrop for memories that would last a lifetime. The rest of the day was filled with fishing and exploring, with several impressive catches reported and camaraderie flourishing on the joint VHF channel as participants swapped stories of their fishing adventures. After a successful day of hooking up the Sea Fox family gathered for a beautiful barbeque on the beach and a few well deserved beverages. Everyone participated in a contest for the best Sea Fox lifestyle photograph, with the Coertze family taking home an impressive Penn reel and rod combo for their snapshot that captured the fun spirit of the rendezvous.
All the participants were delighted with the 3 memorable days of incredible fishing amongst beautiful scenery whilst making friendships with other Sea Fox enthusiasts. Sales manager William Ramsay said that he was so happy with the outcome of the event and “he had so many people calling him saying they had the best time and they are already looking forward to next time, which is very pleasing to hear”. Participants left with new friendships, shared adventures, and a renewed appreciation for the Sea Fox lifestyle. Judging from the success of this inaugural event, this promises to become a regular feature on the Sea Fox calendar for years to come.
