The finale piece for the Masters of Percussion Concert in the 2018 Asheville Percussion Festival was composed by Lisette Santiago, who is singing and playing the batá drums, center stage. The arrangement features solos by all of the festival's guest artists and chorus parts for all of the Advanced Track Immersion Program students. It is based on traditional chants and rhythms celebrating the Orishas, Obatala and Yemaya.
The song is in three parts. The first part is for Obatala, who represents purity, wisdom, and earth. The second part is for Yemaya, who represents nurturing, sustenance, and the sea. The third part is their marriage.
