Atok, Benguet. Holidays at 7,400 feet.

Want to spend the holidays in the Cordilleras but does not want to join the big crowd in Baguio or go on a long drive to Sagada or Banaue? Then why not try going to Atok, Benguet for the holidays.
To many travelers, Atok is where you make a brief stop along Halsema Highway to see the Highest Point in Philippine Highway System at 7,400 feet (2,255.52 metres ). But this distinction is now given to Tinoc - along the Buguias-Tinoc_Kiangan Road - which is the new highest point at 7,969 ft (2,429 metres).
But Atok, with its many natural, man-made and historical attractions, more than a short stop-over but is a good place to explore for several days. At over 2,200 meters above sea level, it is the highest and coldest place you can sleep in the Philippines as compared to Baguio at 1,400 meters or Sagada at 1,600 meters.
It is a 2-hour or 50KM drive from Baguio, and it has several affordable homestays (we stayed at Northern Blossom Homestay for 5,000 pesos per night for 10 people).
In Atok, you can enjoy its many attractions such as the Northern Blossom Flower Farm, Mt. Olis vieweck, Haight's Place, Sakura Park, Old Spanish Trail, Mt. Timbak, Halsema Half Tunnel and many more.
