The system-on-chip (SoC) uses a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor and extra Cortex-M7 core for efficient AI processing. The built-in NPU in i.MX 8M Plus provides 2.3 TOPS acceleration, while Ara-2 boosts this to 40 TOPS for faster performance. This helps developers run AI apps at the edge with lower delays and costs.

Memory options include up to 16GB LPDDR4X for Ara-2 and 1GB-8GB LPDDR4 for i.MX 8M Plus, plus 32GB storage (expandable to 256GB), providing ample space for large AI models. Video features include 1080p60 decoding for HEVC/H.265/VP9 and HDR support for better image quality.

Connectivity includes dual Ethernet, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, GPS, HDMI/LVDS video outputs, plus USB 3.0, RS232, CAN, and camera ports. These make it suitable for industrial and AI-driven IoT environments.
