2025 LaRue V. Barkwell Awardee Carrie Hackney (B.M. Ed. ’71) has fully embodied what it means to live a life of truth and service.
With a Howard University lifespan of over 50 years, Hackney began serving Howard as the fine arts librarian. She is now the director of Library Administration and Operations, as well as the Divinity librarian while also holding several other titles.
Watch to see why Hackney is the 2025 recipient of the LaRue V. Barkwell Capstone Distinguished Award, an award presented to an “individual whose purpose comes alive in service to others.”
