Mendocino County's Little River Inn is Victorian Style waterfront property we won’t soon forget. We spent a lot of time taking in the views and simply hanging out on the balcony. It’s the kind of place things slow down. The 65-room property has different room options from suites to standard rooms in the main Inn.
Little River Inn also has an incredible on-site bar, called Ole's Whale Watch. It was the perfect place to be at sunset. At the adjoining restaurant, open 7 nights a week, TJ ordered the rigatoni Bolognese that also became Alena’s meal. But if you ask me, the Brazilian seafood stew was another top pick.
Each morning Everett and Alena would race to see who could pull back the curtains first to see the ocean. The fireplace also brought an extra ambiance.
For breakfast, we ordered room service. Between hearty egg sandwiches and pancakes, both kids were fueled for each day's adventure.
One of those adventures was to the Little River Blowhole.
The Pygmy Forest Discovery Trail is also nearby. . The Little River Inn is a 5-minute drive to the Mendocino Village where we found coffee shops and places to grab snacks before exploring areas like Mendocino Headlands Stat Park.
Another favorite spot is Pennyroyal Farm where we went to try the award winning Pinot noir. There’s also an on-site creamery and we were able to spot different farm animals.
