The perfect itinerary for one day in Valencia.
Although 24h are not enough to discover this beautiful city, we tried to make the most out of our day in Valencia. Here’s our must see and tips for visiting Valencia, Spain.
First of all, get the Valencia tourist card. It costs €13.50 for one day and it is very convenient, especially if you take the metro from the airport to the city centre. With the tourist card all transportation inside the city (metro, bus, tram) is free during the 24 hours. You also get free access to some national monuments, plus discounts on other tickets you purchase.
Here is the itinerary we recommend to discover Valencia in 24 hours.
TOP things to see in Valencia
1) Mercado Central de Valencia for breakfast and local products. The entry is free, but the Market closes at 3pm so make sure to visit in the morning.
2) Lonja de la Seda, an unique gothic building where entry is free with the tourist card.
3) Valencia Cathedral, home to the holy grail! Entry ticket is 9 euros.
4) City of Arts and Sciences, where you can visit a science museum, an aquarium or watch a movie in a hemispherical cinema.
5) Torres de Serranos, a perfectly preserved medieval tower. Free entry with the tourist card.
Other must see places in Valencia :
-- Mercat de Colon, another famous market of Valencia. This one is more of a lounge space with bars rather than a real market. If we were to choose, we would recommend the central market only.
-- Plaça Redonda, a cute little round square with souvenir and artisan shops.
-- Plaça de l’Ajuntament, a busy square that hosts the city hall and other important buildings.
-- Just wander around and explore charming little streets.
What to eat in Valencia
Paella, of course! Also try local tapas. As a sweet snack you shouldn’t miss is Fartons pastry with Horchata, a sweet root-based milk. If you fancy a drink, try Agua de Valencia, a local cocktail made with orange juice.
Where to eat in Valencia (these are the places we tried) :
Horchateria de Santa Catalina for breakfast or a snack, especially for horchata and fartons.
Palace Fesol for authentic valencian paella in a traditional looking space.
Pintxo i Trago for tapas in the heart of the historical centre.
