This is one of many variations of using the half hitch to cover an object. In this video I show you how to use continuous half hitching to create a wonderful spiral effect to cover an object.

When creating the half hitch covering knot, it is crucial to ensure that distance and tension of each knot matches the previous hitch. It is also crucial to ensure that the surface being covered is as smooth as possible, as any undulations will be highlighted by the spiral half hitching.
