Gospel singer and pastor Donnie McClurkin is facing a lawsuit alleging sexual abuse and grooming brought by Giuseppe Corletto, who says he sought spiritual guidance after reading McClurkin’s autobiography about overcoming homosexuality. According to the lawsuit, what began as mentorship allegedly escalated into abuse during so-called spiritual sessions when Corletto was 21 and McClurkin was 43.
While McClurkin’s attorneys deny the claims, the case raises urgent questions about spiritual authority, consent, accountability, and the ways queer believers are harmed inside spaces that depend on their labor and gifts.
