This is one of the games that uses its own Apptivity toy to interact with the game
If you dont know what apptivity is then its basically line of real life toys that can interact with Ipad games(no folks android doesnt work). Most popular of those include king pig from angry birds, Om Nom one(I NEED IT), sensei from fruit ninja. They interact with their respectiful games aswell.
In this case tho its hotwheels one and it has its own separate apptivity game that it interacts with.
