In this video, I have explained the modes of fragmentation of aliphatic ESTERS. weak molecular ion peaks are observed in case of esters. Most important framentation is alpha cleavage which form acylium ion(M/Z=71). If ester contains long chain then Mclafferty rearrangement with double hydrogen transfer (DHT) occurs. Discussion which I made in this video is available in spectroscopy by Pavia Lampman and also in the organic spectroscopy by Jagmohan.
