Me and my grandson Knox were hunting for deals at the "High Cotton Yard Sale" in Fort Gaines, GA, when we found this vintage Gerber pocket knife. These vintage knives were often given as retirement gifts or awards (like the Detroit Edison one shown at the start of the video), but this one had its emblem ripped off, leaving an ugly hole in the brass bolster.
I decided to try a knife repair I've never seen done before. Instead of trying to find an original emblem, I decided to customize it. Because Knox's Dad and I are both Marines, I drilled out the hole and installed a custom mosaic pin featuring the USMC Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. It turned a broken yard sale find into a special three-generation heirloom.
Also in this video:
• I cut open an old Kabar Stockman to see if I could harvest a spring.
• I customize a broken blade on a vintage Case Tested XX Electrician's Knife.
Let me know in the comments what you think of this mosaic pin fix! Semper Fi!
