In March 1879, with the coastal column besieged at Eshowe, Lord Chelmsford marched his army into the lion’s den, aiming to relieve the beleaguered garrison.
What followed was a battle that would push both sides to the limit and prove once again why the Zulus were some of the fiercest warriors in history.
This is the Battle of Gingindlovu (April 2nd 1879) and today we are going to walk the ground and find out what really happened.
