FiberQ Tutorial — How to Place Manholes, Configure Attributes, Style Symbols, and Connect Cables QGI

In this FiberQ + QGIS tutorial, I walk through a complete workflow for working with manholes (chambers) in your fiber network design project.

You’ll learn how to:

Choose a manhole type (standard, octagonal, mini manholes, micro-duct variants, etc.)

Fill in manhole details before placing the feature on the map (ID, type/category, status, installation year, dimensions, materials, drainage, cover type, notes, and more)

Place manholes on the map and confirm the feature is saved correctly in the Manholes layer

Edit and correct attributes after placement using the Feature Form and the Attribute Table (fast updates + bulk edits)

Customize manhole appearance using Layer Properties → Symbology (marker shape/size, outline/fill, rule-based styling by status, data-defined size, rotation if needed)

Improve data entry with Layer Properties → Attribute Form (dropdown lists/value maps, default values, constraints, field grouping)

Add clear labels (Manhole ID + optional status)

Set up a clean logic for connecting cable routes to manholes and linking joint closures inside manholes using consistent IDs (From/To nodes, Manhole_ID, Closure_ID)
