Join me and Yorkie Lucy on a unique and historic journey through London’s East End! 🐾
We took the DLR and got off at Shoreditch before walking along Cable Street, discovering layers of history along the way. When we reached the Jack the Ripper Museum, Lucy was given special permission to enter — and we were greeted with so much kindness from the staff.
A lovely member of staff guided us, gave us a leaflet explaining each room, and made our experience really memorable. The museum features five floors including the basement, with a different themed room on each level, recreating scenes, stories, and settings from the time of the Whitechapel murders.
The museum is disability friendly with lifts to every floor, plus toilets and a bathroom available for visitors. Before leaving, we visited the gift shop where you can buy Jack the Ripper–themed trinkets like books, mugs, keyrings, and T-shirts.
A huge thank you to the Jack the Ripper Museum for allowing me and Yorkie Lucy to explore this fascinating part of London’s history. ❤️
🏛️ Short History of the Jack the Ripper Museum
The Jack the Ripper Museum is dedicated to telling the story of the infamous unsolved murders that took place in Whitechapel in 1888. Through detailed recreated rooms, original documents, police reports, crime-scene reconstructions, and Victorian-era settings, the museum aims to give visitors an immersive experience of life in the East End during the late 19th century.
Spread across five floors, it features themed spaces such as a Victorian police station, the victims’ rooms, and an attic area exploring the suspects, investigations, and theories. The museum offers a deep dive into one of London’s most mysterious and debated historical cases.
