On Tuesday the 27th of October, Room for Discussion had the honour to receive Dr. John Collins, Director of Academic Engagement at the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime.
In this interview, we discussed the micro- and macroeconomics of international drug trafficking. We will identify the players in the market, explore the challenges they face, and dive into the financial system’s entanglement with drug-trafficking.
We also evaluated the efficacy of the War on Drugs. This is what Dr. John Collins had to say about it "The war on drugs is often a very useful mechanism for state control of certain societal groups".
Finally, we will dive into potential solutions for the future: should governments implement prohibition or legalization of drugs.
