Canadian pianist Ronald Turini plays four works by Rachmaninoff in a 1967 recital from the World Expo in Montreal that was released on record by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The former pupil of Vladimir Horowitz performs
Etude Tableau in E-Flat Minor, Op.39 No.5
Prelude in G-Sharp Minor, Op.32 No.12
Prelude in G Major, Op.32 No.5
Prelude in A Minor, Op.32 No.8
Despite the encouragement of his famous teacher, Turini seemed not to be inspired by the lifestyle of the international concert artist, and he settled in London, Ontario in the 1970s, where he taught for at Western University until 2008. As a performer, he demonstrates outstanding pianistic qualities: rich tone, skilled phrasing, natural timing, and attentive voicing.
