VO The Lao Federation of Trade Unions offices relocate on 450 Year Road in Xaythany district, Vientiane.
INTRO: The Lao Federation of Trade Unions (LFTU), a government body, is relocating from the city centre to new offices on 450 Year Road in Xaythany district, Vientiane. Official said, moving the offices of ministries and other government agencies out of the town centre is part of the government's policy to ease congestion.
STORY: The new LFTU building is located on the left hand side of 450 Year Road, about 1.5km from the Dondok traffic lights near the new Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism building, which is currently under construction.
According to an agreement with the ministry, their new offices must be complete within 18 months of the groundbreaking ceremony. The ministry may move to the new five-storey building this year, vacating behind their current premises on Setthathirath Road.
The new LFTU building is part of an exchange deal with the Ramayana Boutique Company Limited, which will redevelop the former LFTU site.
After the handover ceremony, all officials now working at the federation's temporary offices in Nongbone village, Xaysettha district, will move to the new premises.
The federation's headquarters were previously located on Lane Xang Avenue. The building was sold to the Ramayana Boutique Company Limited a few years ago.
