Each Memorial Day we take the time to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Each year I am moved knowing how these individuals were taken too early in their lives. This year (2025) we participated in various events honoring our hometown military heroes which filled my heart and brought me to tears more so than usual. Please take the time to stop and reflect the sacrifices these men and women made for us. Put aside pettiness, selfishness, greed - and appreciate what we do have because of those who gave their all. To all who made the ultimate sacrifice, “I Remember You”.
I just recently learned from my kumu (teacher) in my hula class, “I Remember You” is often performed at memorials. I had the privilege to perform it in honor of this Memorial Day and truly understand why it is so appropriate for this occasion. Once again, “I Remember You.”
