Schuppan 962CR: The Street Legal Shadow of Porsche’s Le Mans Domination
In the golden age of endurance racing, from the early 1980s through to the dawn of the 1990s, Porsche built machines that didn’t just win—they redefined what it meant to go fast for 24 hours straight. The Porsche 956 and its successor, the 962C, were at the centre of this dominance, winning Le Mans multiple times and rendering everything else on the grid effectively obsolete.
But in the shadows of the factory garage, there was one driver who thought the car's story shouldn’t end at the chequered flag. He believed it should continue—on public roads. And so, through sheer will, considerable experience, and no small amount of money, Vern Schuppan brought to life one of the most extraordinary road cars of the 1990s: the Schuppan 962CR.
