The second piece in the collection "5 Pieces for Solo Guitar".
The term 'fantasia' (with other associated spellings) was used from the renaissance on by composers for lute, keyboard and various consorts. It implies fantasy and freedom, but often typically starts with a melodic subject which is developed during the piece, in a fashion that in the baroque develops into the fugue.
English renaissance composers sometimes Anglicised the word into "Fancy", as here. There are allusions to renaissance styles of writing but the piece is modern in feel. The word "Fancy" has other connotations and the listener is free to relate to these too. The piece is related to the more extended piece "Caer Meini" written around the same time and published by Mel Bay.
