India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has defended Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir after criticism over the Eden Gardens pitch used for the opening Test against South Africa, suggesting that a section of voices may be targeting Gambhir with “individual agendas.” Kotak emphasised that the coaching staff focuses on planning and preparation, but once players walk out to bat, the decisions are theirs. “We can only discuss things before the match. Someone needs to take risks, someone needs to play busy cricket. These are things we talk about.”
