Abilene, Texas is the county seat of Taylor County, Texas. About 170,000 people live in Abilene. Abilene is home to the Dyess Air Force Base.

The original county seat of Taylor County was supposed to be nearby Buffalo Gap, Texas. Instead the railroad came through Abilene and it was petitioned to become the county seat.

Abilene, Texas is named after Abilene, Kansas which is the end point of the Chisholm Trail and an important cattle town.

This little handheld camera is very easy to pack because of its small size. It is not as rugged as the GoPro, but is easy to carry and make stable video. I use the creator combo version which includes an additional battery and a microphone that can be clipped to your shirt for improved audio which I like for filming walking tours.
