Royal Website (1997)

The School received the unique honour of a visit by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 6th March 1997 to launch the Royal Website. The School was selected for this honour because of our advanced development in Information Technology and also because we are piloting, on behalf of the Department for Education and Employment, the use of the Internet in Schools.
The Headmaster, Mr Phillip Snell showed Her Majesty the wide range of curricular activities involving Information Technology across the School. Members of the Royal Party commented on the excellent facilities for students. During her tour of the School, Her Majesty sent an E-Mail to Nakina Public School in Northern Ontario before going on to launch the Royal Website in front of some 300 pupils, parents, Governors, staff and members of the media. The event was seen on television in Britain, Canada, U.S.A., Australia, South Africa and other Commonwealth countries.
