Barpak and Laprak, nestled in the Gorkha district of Nepal, are picturesque villages renowned for their rich Gurung culture, stunning Himalayan views, and resilient communities. Barpak, situated at 1,900 meters in the Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality, is a vibrant hub with around 1,400 households, predominantly inhabited by Gurungs and Ghales, and is famous as the epicenter of the 2015 earthquake, yet it has rebuilt with stone and tin-roofed houses, offering homestays and trekking routes like the Lower Manaslu Trek, with panoramic views of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Buddha Himal. Laprak, located at 2,200–2,800 meters in the Dharche Rural Municipality, is another Gurung-dominated village with over 600 households, known for its lush forests, terraced fields, and breathtaking vistas of Manaslu and Himalchuli, also recovering from the 2015 earthquake with new schools and view towers. Both villages, accessible by bus from Gorkha Bazaar, blend natural beauty, warm hospitality, and cultural traditions like Maruni and Ghatu dances, making them compelling destinations for trekkers and cultural explorers.
