*Govardhan Parikrama* is a significant religious tradition associated with Lord Krishna, primarily observed in the regions of Vrindavan and Gokul, located in Uttar Pradesh, India. This parikrama involves circumambulating the *Govardhan Hill* (Govardhan Parvat), which holds immense spiritual importance in Hinduism, especially in the Vaishnavism tradition.

*Significance of Govardhan Hill:*
Govardhan Hill is deeply connected to the childhood stories of Lord Krishna. According to Hindu mythology, once, the residents of Gokul were performing a grand yajna (sacrifice) to please Lord Indra, the god of rain, for abundant rainfall. However, Krishna, as a young boy, stopped the ritual, asserting that the villagers should worship the *Govardhan Hill* instead, as it was the source of their sustenance. In response to this, Indra, angered by Krishna’s defiance, sent heavy rains to flood the village. Krishna, in his divine form, lifted the Govardhan Hill with his little finger and provided shelter to the villagers and their cattle, saving them from the flood. This event is commemorated by the Govardhan Parikrama.

*The Parikrama Process:*
The parikrama is a *21 km (approximately 13 miles)* long circular path around the Govardhan Hill.
Devotees walk barefoot around the hill, chanting the name of Lord Krishna, and in doing so, they believe that they earn spiritual merit and cleanse their hearts.
The journey usually starts from *Mansi Ganga* (a sacred water body) and covers several important temples and spots, such as **Radha Kund**, **Shyam Kund**, **Govardhan Temple**, **Kusum Sarovar**, and others.
Devotees often carry offerings like *fresh fruits, sweets, and flowers* during the parikrama as part of their prayers and devotion to Lord Krishna.

*Purpose and Benefits:*
The *primary aim* of performing the Govardhan Parikrama is to seek Lord Krishna's blessings and attain spiritual enlightenment.
It is believed that by walking around the Govardhan Hill, devotees can get rid of their sins, and it is also an act of devotion and surrender to Krishna.
Many people consider it a way to purify the mind and soul while increasing their devotion towards the divine.

During the **Govardhan Puja**, devotees also prepare a variety of foods, symbolizing the offerings made to Lord Krishna, representing the abundant harvest of the earth.
The *Govardhan Hill* is not just a physical location but also considered to be a form of Lord Krishna, making the parikrama a deeply spiritual act.

गोवर्धन परिक्रमा एक धार्मिक परंपरा है, जो विशेष रूप से उत्तर भारत के वृंदावन और गोकुल क्षेत्र में मनाई जाती है। यह परिक्रमा गोवर्धन पर्वत की पूरी परिक्रमा करने की एक महत्वपूर्ण धार्मिक क्रिया है, जो भगवान कृष्ण से जुड़ी हुई है।

गोवर्धन पर्वत का धार्मिक महत्व बहुत अधिक है क्योंकि यह पर्वत भगवान कृष्ण से जुड़ा हुआ है। भगवान कृष्ण ने अपनी छोटी अंगुली पर इस पर्वत को उठाकर अपने भक्तों को इन्द्रदेव के मूसलधार बारिश से बचाया था। इसे गोवर्धन पूजा या गोवर्धन उत्सव के रूप में मनाया जाता है, जो दीपावली के बाद की छठी तिथि को होता है।

गोवर्धन परिक्रमा का उद्देश्य आत्मा की शुद्धि, भगवान कृष्ण की कृपा प्राप्त करना और धार्मिक कर्तव्यों का पालन करना है। परिक्रमा करने वाले लोग इस पर्वत के चारों ओर 21 किमी लंबी यात्रा करते हैं और रास्ते में विभिन्न धार्मिक स्थानों और मंदिरों का दर्शन करते हैं।

इस परिक्रमा के दौरान भक्त पूरी श्रद्धा और भक्ति के साथ गोवर्धन पर्वत की परिक्रमा करते हैं। यह परिक्रमा विशेष रूप से उन भक्तों के लिए होती है जो भगवान कृष्ण के प्रति अपनी श्रद्धा और भक्ति को व्यक्त करना चाहते हैं।
