Taking Burrell no. 3159 "The Gladiator" To The Goodwood Revival 2025

In this latest upload (albeit a lot later than planned) I got the very privileged opportunity to attend the Goodwood Revival alongside a small crew to help look after Burrell Showman's no. 3159 "The Gladiator". When I was asked if I wanted to attend and help there was no other response than, yes! This potential one off experience was not to be missed and I most certainly enjoyed every second of it. Unlike traditional steam rallies you don't have to spend the morning raising steam as the engine wasn't needed to be in steam until the early afternoon. This gave us all the chance in the mornings to walk around the motor circuit and take in all the sights and sounds of some pre 1970 motor racing. The video includes plenty of clips from the various practices and races that I got the chance to watch when not with the engine or avoiding the many rain showers. As part of the opportunity to look after "The Gladiator" and to make the vintage funfair look and feel as traditional as possible I finally got a chance to generate a ride. The ride in question was the Dorman's family waltzer. Having only previously generated the cab lights and the grand organ I was excited to jump into the deep end and generate a ride that required constant attention. This constant need for making sure what the engine was doing and needing (coal, water or steam) means there are only a handful of footplate clips.

"The Gladiator" wasn't the only engine in attendance at the revival, there was also Burrell no. 2879 "Lord Nelson" and Burrell no. 3423 "Star". I unfortunately failed to get any footage of "Star" but there are a couple of clips of "Lord Nelson" generating the swing boats.
