What did Jesus Christ’s birth and mortal ministry reveal to us about the Father?

Invitation:
Aren’t you glad to know that “God is not dead, nor doth He sleep”? He actually has everything under control and is ever watchful, which allows us the opportunity to rest in His knowledge. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

• The First Christmas Spirit
“Of the many magnificent purposes served in the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, one great aspect of that mission often goes uncelebrated. … He was showing us who and what God our Eternal Father is like, how completely devoted He is to His children in every age and nation. In word and in deed Jesus was trying to reveal and make personal to us the true nature of His Father, our Father in Heaven. … Jesus did not come to improve God’s view of man nearly so much as He came to improve man’s view of God and to plead with them to love their Heavenly Father as He has always and will always love them.” (2003–O:70, Jeffrey R. Holland, The Grandeur of God)
“Real, personal sacrifice never was placing an animal on the altar. Instead, it is a willingness to put the animal in us upon the altar and letting it be consumed! Such is the ‘sacrifice unto the Lord … of a broken heart and a contrite spirit,’ a prerequisite to taking up the cross, while giving ‘away all [our] sins’ in order to ‘know God’ for the denial of self precedes the full acceptance of Him.” (1995–A:66, Neal A. Maxwell, “Deny Yourselves of All Ungodliness”)
“Can you relate to some of Mary’s feelings? Are there stewardships that you know are sacred but are also overwhelming? From parenting a special needs child to caring for an aging parent to battling a lifetime of depression to so much more. Do you feel troubled and uncertain about what is being asked of you? As you fall to your knees, pleading for help to do one more day, do you wonder if God is really favoring you in these blessings? Do you worry about the capacity needed for the callings ahead? The scriptures don’t give a clear picture of what specific worries and questions weighed on Mary’s new-mother heart. But whatever her wrestle may have been, we know she did come to accept the calling: “Be it unto me according to thy word” (Luke 1:38). It may be through Mary’s experience that you find a way to see and then accept the invitation to find God.” (Ganel-Lyn Condie, Come to Bethlehem and See)
“Joseph believed in Christ’s divine sonship. Instead of focusing on outcomes, he showed courage and devotion in taking to wife a pregnant and overwhelmed Mary. He provided for his new family—from answering the tax collectors’ call to securing shelter on the night of Jesus’s birth to eventually fleeing with his family to Egypt for protection. These actions of faith and devotion testify of Joseph’s conviction regarding Jesus as the hope of Israel, the very Son of God.” (Ganel-Lyn Condie, Come to Bethlehem and See)
