Glades are rocky openings in woodlands, similar in nature to a dry rocky prairie with a touch of southwestern desert. Learn about these fascinating native grassland communities of the Ozarks. Natural History Biologist Susan Farrington will discuss the special plants and animals of glades, how to recognize overgrown glades, and how to restore them.
Susan Farrington is a Natural History Biologist in the Ozark Region for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Formerly she was a Community Plant Ecologist with the Missouri Ozark Forest Ecosystem. She spends much of her time restoring glades and woodlands in the Ozarks, leading prescribed burns and fighting the exotic invasive species that threaten our natural communities.
