The Television Talk Show: Vicki! pt 2 (Florence Henderson, daughter Barbara and more surprises!)

As we continue our look at the evolution of the television talk show, our next focus is upon one of our favorites - Vicki Lawrence. Positive energy, and an inside track and understanding of the Hollywood and entertainment industry, Vicki's programs focusing on celebrities were simply the best since the days of Merv and Mike. She had such a charming, easy, unassuming rapport with her guests and audience.

Here at Television Vanguard, we VHS programmed our VCRs to tape countless Vicki! shows, and we finally get to share our little treasures now here on YouTube, a quarter of a century later.

Hard to believe, but Vicki! only ran in syndication for two years, from 1992 to 1994. She received a much deserved Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Best Talk Show in 1993.

This particular episode is a fan favorite - 'TV Actresses and their Daughters.' Featured on this show, which was broadcast in January 1993 is:

Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch) and her daughter Barbara Chase

Sheila MacRae (The Jackie Gleason Show) and her daughter Meredith MacRae (Petticoat Junction)

Zsa Zsa Gabor (Batman, Gilligan's Island guest roles) and her daughter Francesca Hilton

Abby Dalton (The Joey Bishop Show and Falcon Crest) and her daughter Kathleen Kinmont (Renegade)

and a couple of surprise phone-in guests:

Barry Williams (The Brady Bunch)
and
Vicki's own daughter Courtney Schultz
