Minecraft CTM - Absolution #6 : Worst audio desync of my life (just skip this one)

This is one of the worst videos I've made, and I can't fix it because I deleted the original files before checking the final edit, which I never do by the way. I always wait until the video is published on YouTube and watch a little bit of the final video before I delete the original video files.

What went wrong? Like I mentioned in the beginning of the video, I wanted to try to make my videos better by cutting them more. I recorded two separate video clips, saved them onto an SSD, edited each clip individually and saved those files on my laptop, then edited the two video files together. The result is terrible audio desync as well as a decrease in FPS (from 60 FPS to 30 FPS). I know where the FPS drop came from. I did the foolish thing and edited two different video files together on QuickTime Player. Even if I recorded the same thing at the same FPS, QuickTime Player loves to just lower the FPS when you edit two videos together. I should have remembered, so my bad. The easy fix is to only record one video file and edit that.

The audio desync problem is one I have never experience to this extent. I did all the editing with QuickTime Player by the way. Sometime I stitch audio files together, so there might be half a second of desync. But I've never experienced more and more desync as the video goes on. I suspect that with every cut and edit I made to the video files, there is a bit of audio desync that compounds until it just becomes unbearable. I didn't pay attention at first, but the audio desync occurs before the video clips are even edited together. I blame this problem with QuickTime Player, because I suspect it just doesn't keep the audio track and the video track completely in line when there are lots of cuts.

You might be asking why I don't just re-edit the video. Again, the original files have been deleted, so there is no fixing the audio. You might also be asking why I didn't edit the video with another video editor. Because things like iMovies and DaVinci Resolve absolutely nuke the video quality when I edit on my Macbook. I have only been able to figure out DaVinci Resolve specifically on my PC with screen recordings (external graphic card recording with OBS on my PC still get nuked by DaVinci Reslove). When I edit with QuickTime Player, I have almost no tools, but at least the video quality doesn't get destroyed. I have to edit in one sitting, because there is no timeline or saves that I can use. It sucks editing with QuickTime Player, but it consistently retains video quality as long as I don't edit two videos together. If I still had the original files, I could try to edit this video on YouTube. The editing would be 10x more difficult, but YouTube does retain video quality. It just takes a lot longer, despite there actually being a timeline.

The plan might just be recording these videos as one clip, then editing on YouTube or something. I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. The next video unfortunately might suffer from the FPS issues, but I'll try to make sure that the audio isn't terrible.

I'm still posting this video despite bing horrible because I want to archive the progress I made. I suggest you don't really watch or, of if you do, just watch without audio. Or maybe watch it without video and just podcast it or something.
