Brands Hatch Track Day

We all have items on our bucket list. Going around Brands Hatch race track has been one of mine!

Well I was invited by William Hardie to join him on a track day, where he was running a 1997 BMW E36 M3 3.0 through its paces.

Arriving at Brands Hatch and being able to drive under the race track to the Pits, was tick number one. I've watched from the stands, race teams, support personnel and Pit Guests all pass under the track as I sat enviously in the stands. Finally I was not only able to drive under the car pass but also go inside a pit garage to join William and his car.

I was lucky enough to watch William prepare the car for the track and then finally be strapped in nice and tight into the passenger's bucket seat before being taken out onto the track itself for a dozen laps or so. Tick number two

Experiencing the G-forces as we raced around the track was amazing! Especially going in and coming out of Paddock Hill was very exhilarating. Passing the other track day racers ( on the left of course) so close it almost made my sinuous' close . Though it was 10 x faster and more intense that a 'late for work' journey of mine, it was still a mild experience to what's actually like to truly race a saloon car on the Brands Hatch track.

I was also lucky enough to chat with William Hardie ask him about his world of racing. I also learned about the racing foot work, rules of the track - we got 'Red Flagged' due to an accident and just what goes into preparing a saloon car as a racer.

The day was perfect and certainly ticked the box on the bucket list for me!
